Carnival in Brazil

All this talk about Brazil’s upcoming carnival has got me feeling sentimental and remembering my first carnival in Brazil. I really didn’t know what to expect, and it was kind of due to a last minute change of plans that I suddenly found myself there, so I really was not prepared for the extravaganza I was about to experience. What can I say … It really was the most incredible thing I’ve ever experienced. It’s like the best party you’ve ever been to or can even imagine attending, but ten times better, and lasting several days. I felt like Alice in Wonderland, or if I had fallen down a rabbit hole and woken up in a movie. If you ever have a chance to go to carnival in Brazil, GO!!! Even if you don’t spend it in one of the major cities, you are still guaranteed to have the best time of your life. I spent it Espirito Santo, mostly in the state capital Vitoria, and was able to travel to some smaller towns to see how their parties were on some of the days. I still have no idea how I managed and where I got all that energy from. Unfortunately I lost most of my pictures from around that time when my computer crashed, but wanted to share some of the essence of what must probably be the most amazing and magical spectacle on earth.
